As Co-Founder and Product Lead of The Voca App, I helped build and launch a mobile platform for content creators, leading product development, UX design, investor pitching, and go-to-market strategy.

Overview / Challenge

The goal behind Voca was to bridge the gap between creators and their communities—not just by enabling interaction, but by helping creators monetize their time directly through meaningful, one-on-one calls.

Our challenge was to design and launch an entirely new platform in a fast-moving creator economy, with limited resources and an ambitious six-month timeline. As a founding team, we had to:

  • Validate the concept with creators
  • Define a strong visual and product identity
  • Build a user-friendly experience across iOS and web
  • And navigate a successful go-to-market strategy under tight financial and bandwidth constraints

Process

  • Product Vision & Strategy
    • Co-created business plan and pitch decks used to raise $500K in angel investment
    • Defined platform functionality, monetization model, and creator experience flow
  • Product Design
    • Built full design system in Figma, including component library, UX patterns, and responsive layouts
    • Collaborated with a small team of designers to develop wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity UI
    • Designed onboarding, creator dashboards, scheduling tools, and call interfaces
  • Brand & Identity
    • Led creative direction for Voca’s brand—logo, typography, color system, tone of voice, and marketing assets
    • Created branded decks for investors, partners, and early creator outreach
    • Designed website and App Store visuals for product launch
  • Go-to-Market & Marketing
    • Worked with cross-functional teams to build GTM plan
    • Wrote messaging, directed launch content, and built key visuals for website and creator acquisition
    • Managed content production for social, investor updates, and community building
  • Postmortem & Key Learning
    • Launched 4 months behind schedule due to expanded scope
    • GTM efforts lacked focused support, and with limited runway, we couldn’t pivot post-launch
    • Learned invaluable lessons in MVP prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and launch planning under pressure
  • Outcomes / Impact

  • Helped raise $500K in angel investment through design-forward storytelling and investor materials
  • Led full design and creative execution of Voca’s product, brand, and launch
  • Built the product experience and design system from scratch, setting scalable standards for future development
  • Developed early creator interest and partnerships across multiple verticals (coaches, influencers, entertainers)
  • Gained deep insight into product-market fit, GTM strategy, and the value of focus in early-stage growth
  • Though Voca ultimately ran out of runway, it remains one of my most valuable growth experiences as a creative leader and product strategist
